Hull Pacemakers honoured for inclusivity…
Hull Pacemakers have been awarded The FA Charter Standard Award for Inclusive Club of the Year due to their work bringing walking football to the community…
World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst presented the team with their award during a ceremony at Hull University.
The club has done a huge amount of work to take the sport into the community over the last few years, and now welcomes everyone aged 16 and over who wants to play the game.
The sessions are based on fun with scores not being counted and different captains chosen each week to pick the teams – with a complete ban on only selecting friends.
“We feel it should be open to all,” said the club’s chairman Chris Johnson. “Football is the nation’s number one sport, so it should be enjoyed by as many people as possible.”
